Carter: Celebration #2

We had Carter's first birthday party at our house with an "Under the Sea" theme. It was just close friends and family which was perfect. We had his party in the evening so that the kids could go outside and get wet after food and cake. We borrowed our neighbors blow up water slide which was a big hit and also had Carter's water table and a small baby pool. I really couldn't have asked for it to go better. There was a great breeze outside and all the kids seemed to enjoy themselves.
John's dad did this pineapple tree which was our main centerpiece. It turned out beautiful and got lots of comments. All of the fruit for the bottom didn't make it in the picture!
For dessert, everyone got a cup of Jello with "sand". There are Teddy Grahams in there, but they blended right in.
Carter got a giant bucket of sand! I think we threw at least 3/4 of it away. Smaller bucket next time :)
Then, it was hang out time.
The entire day was a success filled with amazing people that love Carter.
Happy Birthday Big Boy!!

Carter: Celebration #1

On Carter's actual birthday, he opened up a few cards and a birthday present from The Pursers. He enjoyed flapping the cards around and REALLY enjoyed opening the present. I've never seen a 1-year-old do it like him. He seemed to actually get the idea!
Next came the celebration! We invited many of our neighbors over to our driveway for cake. Carter got to dig into his first. He was a little apprehensive at first but soon got the idea. He wasn't overly aggressive but still ended up a blue mess.

We did let others eat cake, too!
After cake, we brought out Carter's new water table that Grams & Pops bought him, and all the kids played for awhile. Everything turned out great - except the random blue spots we found around the house the next day!
